Background

“Write On Me” is the second promo single from Fifth Harmony’s album 7/27, set to be released on May 27th, 2016. The lyrics contain imagery of drawing and writing as a metaphor for the effect that a romantic relationship could have on someone’s life.

Camila Cabello and Ally Brooke found the track to showcase the group's vulnerability in separate interviews. While recording music for their sophomore album, Fifth Harmony was keen in including a ballad number. Cabello told Entertainment Weekly that fans would see "more of a vulnerable side" to them.

Camila: Write on Me is lyrically my favorite song on the album. To me the song is an extended metaphor where you’re asking somebody to ‘write’ on you, envelop you with their words, make their mark on you like you’re a blank canvas.

Music Video

The music video for Write On Me was released on May 7, 2016 on VEVO. The music video was directed by Sam Lecca. The video, filmed in black and white, shows the five members of the group singing and dancing to the song.

Regarding the video, the member Normani Kordei expressed, "this is a different approach than we've done before." She elaborates this by stating that the video focuses more on the "lyrical content" as well as their "beauty shots" which is a new concept the group explores as "there's always so much going on."
