Top Down is a song by Fifth Harmony included in their first studio album, Reflection, which debuted on February 3, 2015.

Background[]

"It's about having a good time with your friends, going out and taking over the town." as Ally Brooke described it.

Critical Response[]

Jason Liphutz of Billboard described 'Top Down' as an elastic synth riff serves as the foundation for the giddy pile-up of "Top Down," which includes tottering beats, a "Problem"-esque horn riff in the hook, PG-rated rhymes and united crooning on the chorus behind looped yelps worthy of DJ Mustard. Despite the many spinning plates, "Top Down" never becomes incoherent and makes one want to visit Electric City on multiple occasions.

"The first track off the album is very reminiscent of Iggy Azalea — which only makes me wish that there were a collaboration in the works. While it doesn’t necessarily sound like the most original track, it’s an appropriate introduction to the evolution of Fifth Harmony’s R&B and big band-influenced sound." according to Rebecca Mattina of andPOP.

Marcel Jeremiah of PPcorn described 'Top Down' as a snap-filled, R&B track that has a throwback vibe with the production. The opener is definitely a change from what you know from Fifth Harmony as they let their hair down in a new city. The track is so infectious from the playful lyrics, “I ain’t got a lotta money / but I got a lotta style / what what.” to each girls approach to the track. “Top Down” is a good introduction to a fun ride your about to take.

Lyrics[]

Fifth Harmony:
Blaze it up and we'll be cruisin' with the top down
Rev up the engine we'll be cruisin' watch it go down
Get in my truck and I'll be ridin' with my top down
With my top down, my top down!

Camila:
Yup, from a small town cruisin' thru the big city
Where the fellas are cute and the girls are pretty
It's our world so you know it's going down
I ain't got a lotta money but I got a lotta style
What what?

Fifth Harmony:
Blaze it up and we'll be cruisin' with the top down
Rev up the engine we'll be cruisin' watch it go down
Get in my truck and I'll be ridin' with my top down
With my top down, my top down!

Fifth Harmony:
Electric city

Lauren:
Baby you're mine tonight

Don't you shine bright

Me and my clique goin' hard and you feel us
(Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey)

I ain't got a lotta money but I got a lotta style
What what?

Fifth Harmony:
