Skyscraper is a song performed by American recording artist Demi Lovato off of her third album, 2011's Unbroken. The song was written by Toby Gad, Lindy Robbins and Kerli Kõiv and produced by Gad. It was inspired by a picture of the apocalypse, in which the world was in ruins and among collapsed buildings, one skyscraper was still standing.
Fifth Harmony covered the song on The X Factor as their song for survival in the First Week of Live Shows, the lyrics can be seen below.
Lyrics[]
Lauren:
Skies are crying, I am watching
Catching teardrops in my hands
Only silence as it's ending
Like we never had a chance
Dinah:
Do you have to make me feel like
There's nothing left of me?
Normani:
You can take everything I have
You can break everything I am
Like I'm made of glass
Like I'm made of paper
Camila:
O-oh, woah, oh
Go on and try to tear me down
I will be rising from the ground
Like a skyscraper, oh
Like a skyscraper, yeah
Ally with Fifth Harmony harmonizing:
Go run, run, run
I'm gonna stay right here
Watch you disappear, yeah
Lauren (with Fifth Harmony):
Go run, run, run
Yeah, it's a long way down
But I am closer to the clouds up (here)
Dinah:
You can take everything I have
You can break everything I am
Like I'm made of glass
Like I'm made of paper, oh woah
Ally:
Go on and try to tear me down
We will be rising from the ground
Like a skyscraper

- Season 3 X-Factor contestant Rion Paige performed this song on the show, which was a risk for her because of her being a country singer and Demi Lovato, who originally sang the song, being her mentor.
- This song was released as the first single for British singer Sam Bailey after she had won the 10th series of the UK version of The X Factor in 2013. It debuted at number 1 on the UK Singles Chart.
