Little Mix are an English all-female pop group who first gained fame when they became the first group to win the UK version of The X-Factor in 2011. They have gone on to success in both the UK and the United States with their debut album DNA (2012), which spawned the hit single "Wings". The girls' second album, Salute, was released on November 8, 2013 in the UK and was released in the United States on February 4, 2014.
Little Mix, along with Fifth Harmony and Cher Lloyd, opened for Demi Lovato on her Neon Lights Tour, which kicked off on February 9, 2014 in Vancouver, Canada. They were part of the tour until March 18, 2014. They will then be hitting the road for their own tour, The Salute Tour, which will kick off in Birmingham, England on May 16, 2014.
Background
Like Fifth Harmony, Little Mix auditioned for The X Factor UK as solo artists but didn't make it past bootcamp. The judges decided that all 4 girls were better off as a group so they put them together. Little Mix progressed through the competition with their renditions of such songs as "E.T." by Katy Perry to "Don't Let Go (Love)" by En Vogue. They became the first group to win the show and released their winner's single, a cover version of the Damien Rice song "Cannonball", after they won. The single, which hit number 1 in the UK, Scotland, and Ireland, has sold 465,000 copies as of December 2012.
