"I'll Stand by You" is a 1994 song recorded by The Pretenders from their sixth studio album, Last of the Independents. Written by lead singer Chrissie Hynde in collaboration with the songwriting team of Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg (who used the melody from Johann Sebastian Bach's Minuet for Lovers), it was the Pretenders' most recent significant hit single, and their last successful single in North America.
Fifth Harmony performed this song in the Thanks Week on The X-Factor. Unfortunately, this performance marks their lowest rank on The X-Factor.
Lyrics
Lauren:
Oh, why you look so sad?
Tears are in your eyes
Come on and come to me now
Camila:
Don't be ashamed to cry
Let me see you through
'cause I've seen the dark side too
Dinah:
When the night falls on you
You don't know what to do
Nothing you confess
Could make me love you less
Fifth Harmony:
I'll stand by you
I'll stand by you
Won't let nobody hurt you
I'll stand by you
Normani:
So if you're mad, get mad
Don't hold it all inside
Come on and talk to me now
Camila:
Hey, what you got to hide?
I get angry too
Well I'm a lot like you
Ally:
When you're standing at the crossroads
And don't know which path to choose
Camila:
Let me come along
'Cause even if you're wrong
Fifth Harmony:
I'll stand by you
I'll stand by you
Won't let nobody hurt you
I'll stand by you
Take me in, into your darkest hour
And I'll never desert you
I'll stand by you
